Observance: Thomas Doyle will be the guest speaker and Charles Town Mayor Peggy Smith will be the Memorial Day address speaker at a Memorial Day observance conducted Monday at 11 a.m., at Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town. Wreaths will be laid by the American Legion Post No. 71, the Legion Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion Squadron No. 71, VFW Post 3522, VFW Auxiliary, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Sons of Confederate Veterans and Junior ROTC.
Patriot ride: The Brunswick Eagle Riders group is honoring troops this Memorial Day with its second annual Patriot Ride & BBQ Bash at 11 a.m. Saturday. All proceeds will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. Attendees can pre-register by emailing email@example.com.
History talk: The Jefferson County Black History Preservation Society will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the formation of the United States Colored Troops at 7 p.m. Friday at Fisherman’s Hall in Charles Town. The program is free and open to the public.
Concert: South Jefferson Public Library will host the music of Deane Kern during a Memorial Day Weekend Concert from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The library is located at 40 Church St., in Summit Point.
Confederate memorial service: The Shepherdstown Chapter 128 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy will hold its annual Confederate Decoration/Memorial Day Service in Elmwood Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. June 1.
