The Morgan’s Grove Farm Market kicks off the season with locally grown food, locally raised beef, unique vendors and workshops. The market near Morgan’s Grove Park on W.Va. 480 just outside of Shepherdstown will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through the end of October. Learn more at


The Theatre Guild of the Old Opera House will host the “Night at the Races” from 5:30 to 11 p.m. at Hollywood Casino at the Charles Town Races. A prime rib and seafood buffet will be served along with a cash bar and a night of racing. Proceeds will benefit the Old Opera House Center for the Arts in Charles Town. Admission is $50. Attend the Jefferson County Historical Society’s spring meeting at 2 p.m. at the Old Opera House in Charles Town to hear Jefferson County Museum curator Jane Rissler’s research on the history of Kabletown. For more information, contact Doug Perks ( or 304-728-7008).



The foursome who make up the Jefferson County school board will meet to discuss – and possibly decide on – a fifth member to fill the vacancy created when Pete Dougherty stepped aside last month to become sheriff. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the board office at 110 Mordington Ave. in Charles Town.
