BARDANE – This weekend brings the grand opening of Brian Bircher and Jennifer Maghan’s Black Dog Coffee Co.
The shop, located at 8001 Charles Town Road just off the Bardane exit of W.Va. 9, specializes in coffee by the cup as well as just-roasted in bags for home brewing.
Black Dog also is a hub for buying locally made or raised foods, including soups, sandwiches, cinnamon rolls, Thai entrees, baking mixes, jams, honey, grass-fed beef, pasture-raised pork, and other gourmet items.
Bircher and Maghan also sell a line of hand-rolled, whole-leaf loose teas, French presses and other coffee-making gear, tote bags, Christmas stockings, Tshirts and works crafted by local artists.
At Saturday’s grand opening, happening from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., special events will include live music, local authors and artists, food and drink samples, prize giveaways and more.
Bircher launched his artisan roasting business in 2006 from his Summit Point home; the new retail location debuted in mid-September. For details, call the store at 877-724-9040, visit blackdogcoffee.net or find Black Dog Coffee on Facebook.
