ASPCA receives grant: Jefferson County Animal Control, a division of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, announced that the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has been awarded a scholarship grant totaling $1,850. The grant will be used to send Jessica Ebersole, a veteran animal control officer, to the National Animal Cruelty Investigator’s Training School in Bushnell, Fla.

Volunteers sought: The City of Ranson Convention & Visitors Bureau is currently accepting volunteer members. The CVB is charged with promoting tourism in Ranson and surrounding areas to visitors. Members come to the monthly meetings, give their input, and assist with different events that the CVB hosts throughout the year. Council on Aging bus trips: The Jefferson County Council on Aging and Jefferson Capital Tours offers bus trips throughout the year. Upcoming trips include: Antietam Cowboy Christmas Show — Nov. 14 and Christmas in Williamsburg, Va. — Dec. 5 and 6.
