Adopt-A-Family: Jefferson County Community Ministries matches families who do not have the means to provide Christmas presents to their family members with adopters such as churches, organizations or individuals. Volunteers sought: The City of Ranson Convention & Visitors Bureau is accepting volunteer members. The CVB is charged with promoting tourism in Ranson and surrounding areas.  Members attend monthly meetings, give their input and assist with CVB events. Fundraiser for cancer: The third-annual “Bras for a Cause” fundraiser event continues. For every bra dropped off at a Fargo Insurance office, 50 cents will be donated to a local organization in support of breast cancer research. For questions, go to www.fargoins.com or call 304-267-4915.

Volunteers needed to plant trees: The Chesapeake Bay Foundation is looking for volunteers to help plant more than 800 trees and shrubs along 2,000 feet of Harlan Run, a trout stream near Hedgesville, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Bring shovels, work gloves and a water bottle and lunch. This free event is suitable for adults, families and community groups. Dress for the weather. Registration is required.
