STEPHENS CITY, Va. — It was Homecoming at Sherando High last Friday. And the Warriors celebrated only their second win of the football season, taking a 50-7 decision over visiting Jefferson High.
The Warriors, who were able to completely stymie the Jefferson ground game, improved to 2-3 overall while the Cougars went to 1-4 in their five games.
Jefferson had a minus seven yards rushing in the loss. Sherando so dominated that it allowed only 62 yards in total offense to the Cougars.
In notching its 50 points, the Warriors had Taylor Loudan rush for 183 yards and score three touchdowns, while Reid Entsminger passed for 141 yards and another three touchdowns.
Adam Whitacre, Joshua Wagner, and Loudan had TDs on the three scoring passes thrown by Entsminger. George Aston and Clowser scored the two rushing touchdowns the Warriors counted other than the three counted by Loudan. Cornell Holt scored Jefferson’s touchdown when he intercepted a Loudan screen pass in the Sherando end zone.
Jefferson is at home on Friday at 7 p.m. against Musselman.
