HEDGESVILLE — With wins by game scores of 25-12, 25-15, and 25-17, it was homestanding Hedgesville defeating Jefferson, 3-0, in a volleyball match. Jefferson had a 1-7 overall mark.
The loss was Jefferson’s seventh straight after a season-opening win at St. Maria Goretti.
Hedgesville was able to open lengthy leads in all three games.
Jefferson’s best surge of the match came in the third game when Mallory Jackson was serving for the Lady Cougars when they notched seven consecutive points to slice a 21-8 Hedgesville lead back to 21-15.
Hampshire was at home in Romney when it defeated Jefferson, three games to none, leaving the Lady Cougars with a 1-7 record.
Jefferson got his second match win of the season when it defeated homestanding Berkeley Springs, 3-0, last Thursday. Kenzie Chrisman and Hunter Slivak both had seven kills. Molly Langland had eight assists and six service aces. Maddy Nace was credited with three digs for the Lady Cougars.
The three game scores were 25-16, 25-20, and 25-15. The Lady Cougars had a 2-8 overall record.
