Now a junior at Fairmont State of the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, former Jefferson High athlete Justin Stambaugh is now one of the Falcons’ best golfers.
Stambaugh recently shot a four-over par 75 on the rolling course at the Oglebay Palmer Course in Wheeling when Fairmont participated in the West Liberty Quad.
Stambaugh’s round of 75 was good for third place in a match that featured the Falcons and three other teams. Fairmont finished third behind West Liberty and Pitt-Johnstown and ahead of Wheeling Jesuit.
At the WVIAC Southern Regional at the Berry Hills Country Club in South Charleston, Stambaugh finished 10th in the 65-player field.
His rounds at Berry Hills of 78 and 73 (151) left Stambaugh at 11-over par and five strokes in back of tournament winner, Cameron Beckner of Shepherd, who had rounds of 72 and 74 (146).
Fairmont finished fifth as a team in the 13-school field at the WVIAC Southern Regional.
Stambaugh graduated from Jefferson in 2009.
