State plans redesign of school principal programs

CHARLESTON (AP) — The West Virginia Board of Education plans to redesign the training and roles of public school principals.

A report by ICF International for Imagine West Virginia contains eight recommendations to update the state’s principal programs. They include new professional expanded standards, creation of advanced specializations and establishment of a state Professional Standards Board.

The Board of Education is seeking public comment on the recommendations. Comments can be submitted online at wvde.state.wv.us/policies/imagine-wv.html.
