Man sentenced in Upshur murder-for-hire case

BUCKHANNON (AP) — A Buckhannon man convicted of killing another man in a murder-for-hire case will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Media outlets report that 30-year-old Jessie Lee Heater received a life sentence with no possibility of parole last week.

Upshur County Circuit Court Judge Kurt Hall also sentenced Heater to three consecutive one-to-five year terms for conspiracy to commit murder, concealing a body and conspiracy to conceal a body.

An Upshur County jury convicted Heater of first-degree murder and the other charges in June.

Police say co-defendant Rodolpho Villagomez Correa paid Heater $5,000 to kill 29-year-old Joshua Oberg in 2012.

Correa’s trial is scheduled for December.

Another co-defendant, Roger Eugene Siron III of Weston, is serving a sentence for voluntary manslaughter and conspiracy to conceal a body.
