Weekend tornado confirmed in West Virginia

MAXWELL (AP) — The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down in Pleasants and Ritchie counties over the weekend.

The weather service says the EF1 tornado traveled about four miles and carried winds of up to 100 mph.

The tornado snapped and uprooted trees. No injuries were reported.

The weather service says the tornado touched down around 7:15 p.m. Sunday south of Maxwell. The twister was on the ground for about 15 minutes and had a maximum width of 200 yards.
