Summit focuses on student success

MORGANTOWN (AP) — More than 300 education administrators, teachers, students, military leaders and community group members are join forces to find ways to help students prepare for lifelong success.

The annual Student Success Summit is being held at the Waterfront Hotel and Conference Center in Morgantown. It began Wednesday and runs through Thursday.

The summit features more than 60 sessions on topics ranging from dropout prevention to college access to on-the-job learning experiences.

U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin served as the keynote speaker Wednesday and focused on the role that public and community organizations play in supporting education goals.

The summit is sponsored by the Department of Education, the Higher Education Policy Commission, the Council for Community and Technical College Education and the Department of Education and the Arts.
