Reward offered in dog brutality case

GASSAWAY (AP) — The Humane Society of the United States is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information related to the beating and stabbing of a dog in Gassaway.

The reward adds to an existing $1,500 reward from Braxton County Animal Shelter.

According to the animal shelter, a wounded female dog was found with several skull injuries on July 17.

A veterinary exam showed her skull was split in two places and the right side of her skull was crushed. Due to the attack, she was euthanized.

Authorities believe she was beaten with a blunt object and possibly stabbed in the head.
