Marshall researcher gets cancer research grant

HUNTINGTON (AP) — A Marshall University scientist has received a $432,000 cancer research grant.

The National Cancer Institute grant is going to Vincent E. Sollars, an associate professor of biochemistry and microbiology.

The grant will fund a three-year project in epigenetics. That is a relatively new concept in cancer therapies that has shown promise.

The award will also give students an opportunity to participate in the research.
