CHARLESTON — Sunday is the deadline to nominate someone for the West Virginia Department of Agriculture’s 2014 Women in Agriculture program.
Agriculture commissioner Walt Helmick asks that those making nominations provide as much detail as possible about the nominee’s agricultural career.
The Women in Ag program began in 2010 as a way to honor West Virginia women who contribute to our agriculture, forestry and specialty crop industries. So far, the program has recognized 26 West Virginia women.
Honorees have come from an array of fields including beef, dairy, education, specialty crop production and forestry.
“We know there are many women out there with a dedication and love for the agriculture industries and this is our way to recognize their work in these fields,” Helmick said. “I encourage their friends and families to put an entry in.”
Biographies of the winners will be featured on WVDA displays in August during the State Fair of West Virginia.
To get a nomination form, contact Tracy Fitzsimmons of the WVDA Marketing and Development Division (304-558-2210 or firstname.lastname@example.org) or go to wvagriculture.org.
Completed applications must be returned along with a high-resolution photograph of the nominee to West Virginia Department of Agriculture, 1900 Kanawha Blvd., E., Charleston 25305 or electronicially to email@example.com.
