CHARLES TOWN — Charles Town leaders are expected to vote on hiring a new city manager during a special meeting tonight.
Three candidates have been considered for the position from a candidate field of 37, according to Charles Town Mayor Peggy Smith.
Council members discussed the credentials of the three candidates in an executive session May 5 and a personnel committee meeting was held May 9.
The position became available following the resignation of former City Manager Joe Cosentini, who left in March to become town administrator in Thompson’s Station, Tenn.
In other matters, the council will have a public reading of its application for Home Rule as part of the West Virginia Municipal Home Rule Pilot Program.
A public hearing was held April 25. A second reading of the application will happen Monday and then it will be sent on to the Municipal Home Rule Board in Charleston by May 31.
