CHARLES TOWN — David Mills was selected to be the new city manager for Charles Town in a unanimous vote by the City Council Wednesday.
Mills, 47, currently works as economic development director for Ranson. A former city manager for that city, he will assume his new duties June 2.
Mayor Peggy Smith cited Mills’ 16 years of experience in Ranson as one of the reasons for his selection.
“He had all the qualification we were looking for, Smith said. “His record in Ranson speaks for itself. We are all pleased with the selection and want the city to move forward.”
The city received 37 applications for the $101,850 position, following the departure of former City Manager Joe Cosentini, who left in March.
Mills was born in Ranson and raised in Charles Town.
