Eastern Panhandle transit agency targets ridership

MARTINSBURG (AP) — The Eastern Panhandle Transit Authority is launching several programs aimed at increasing ridership across the region.

The programs include cutting the price of fares in half for residents 60 and older and giving students a 25 percent discount on monthly passes.

The authority also plans to offer a $5 all-day pass.

An existing program called “Get a Job, Get a Ride” offers a free 30-day fare card for newly hired residents through participating businesses.

Authority director of marketing Elaine Bartoldson tells The Journal that as more people use the transit system, demand will increase.
