Charlotte man faces gun charges in West Virginia

CHARLESTON (AP) — A Charlotte, North Carolina, man has been accused of firing a gun near a school in Charleston.

Prosecutors say a federal grand jury in Charleston indicted 20-year-old Aric Adams Jr. on charges that he fired the gun eight times on March 25 shortly after students at J.E. Robins Elementary School were released at the end of the school day.

The indictment says Adams was prohibited from carrying the gun due to a prior drug case.

Adams faces up to 20 years in prison and $750,000 in fines if convicted. Adams is being held without bond at the South Central Regional Jail. Jail records didn’t indicate whether Adams has an attorney.
