MARTINSBURG (AP) — Two Eastern Panhandle counties have lifted state of emergency declarations issued during the recent winter storm.
Berkeley and Jefferson counties lifted the declarations Friday afternoon. More than a foot of snow fell in the region on Wednesday and Thursday.
The declarations had enabled officials in the two counties to seek additional resources to ensure public safety, including the assistance of National Guard members.
County emergency officials say some secondary roads still have problems with snow and ice.
Schools were closed Friday in 34 counties across the state due to the storm.
