Three W.Va. teens killed in collision with fire truck

NEW MANCHESTER (AP) — Police are investigating a collision between a passenger vehicle and a fire truck that killed three Oak Glen High School students.

Hancock County Sheriff Ralph Fletcher tells media outlets that the southbound passenger vehicle went into the northbound lane while trying to overtake another vehicle. It collided with a New Manchester Volunteer Fire Department truck.

Fletcher says the passenger vehicle’s driver, 16-year-old Krsytan Butcher of Newell, and a passenger, 16-year-old Kaylin Blake Rice of Chester, died at the scene. Another passenger, 16-year-old John Emmett Snow III of New Cumberland, died at an area hospital.

Three firefighters were treated at the hospital and released.

Fletcher says the accident occurred around 9 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of W.Va. Route 8 and Tomlinson Run State Park.
