Patriots wrestle in prestigious Skyline Elite

FRONT ROYAL, Va. — The Skyline High (Va.) Elite Opener wrestling tournament was host to 12 teams, including Washington High.

Competing were Virginia schools Robinson, Colonial Forge, Battlefield, Franklin County, Great Bridge, Fauquier, Millbrook, Handley, Skyline and Benedictine.

Washington and Musselman rounded out the field.

Robinson was the winner with 427 points with Colonial Forge finishing second with 395 points. Finishing third through fifth were Fauquier (278), Battlefield (261) and Benedictine (253).

Host Skyline was eighth (217) points and Washington was not in the top five teams.

One of the most interesting matches involved Washington’s Tyler Sigler and Skyline’s Noah Goss at 132-pounds. Goss decisioned Sigler, 4-3, in the title match in Round 1 of the multi-round event.
