HARPERS FERRY – Police are currently searching for a man who attempted to kidnap a woman yesterday near Mission Road in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

State Trooper P.S. Kennedy responded to a 911 call at around 5 p.m. yesterday, lodged by the woman who alleged that an unidentified man driving a blue, four-door Nissan passenger vehicle had forced her into the trunk of his car and began driving away.

She told police that she was walking down Patriot’s Way when the vehicle pulled up alongside her and the driver asked her for directions. After she told him she could not give him directions, he forced her into the trunk.

She says she quickly escaped from the trunk by pulling a glow-in-the-dark trunk release cable. After escaping from the car, she ran to a nearby wood line and her assailant drove away.

According to state police, the woman suffered abrasions on her arms and legs consistent with her account of events.

The suspect is described as a 5’11” white male between 220 and 230 pounds with short brown hair and a mustache. He was wearing a yellow pullover hoodie, eye glasses and had a mole on the left side of his left eye.

Individuals with information concerning the investigation should call Kennedy at (304) 725-9779.
