Patriots claim Dr. Glenn tourney title

CHARLES TOWN — With the Region II golf tournament looming just around the corner, Washington High continued its winning ways by claiming the well-attended Dr. Marshall Glenn Invitational tournament played at the Sleepy Hollow Course.

With a team score for the 18 holes of 331, the Patriots edged both James Wood and Mercersburg Academy. Both the Colonels and the Blue Storm finished the event with team scores of 334. Hedgesville was fourth in a team field that also included Jefferson, Musselman, Berkeley Springs, Martinsburg, Spring Mills, Sherando and St. James. Jefferson placed ninth in the 10-team field with a score of 403.

The par 72 layout proved challenging to the entire field of golfers.

Will Holmes (James Wood) was the medalist with his 74. Owen Elliott (Hedgesville) shot a 75 to finish second in the individual standings.

Tyler Sigler and Ryan Fleming both carded rounds of 82 for the Patriots. Hunter Hardy finished at 83 while Patrick Burgess and Jacob Shuff had rounds of 84. Dylan Mumaw had a 90.
