CHARLES TOWN — One goal was all that was scored in the Jefferson at Washington girls soccer game. That one goal was scored by the homestanding Patriots and it left Washington with a 1-0 win over their intracounty counterparts.
The victory was Washington’s sixth in its last seven games and gave it a 6-3-0 overall record. Jefferson had a 4-2-1 overall mark after the defense-dominated game was completed.
The Patriots have allowed only a total of two goals in their six wins this season. Four of those wins have come by shutout.
Earlier, Atley Fortney scored two goals and Haelly Ramirez, Brittney Dudash and Brogan Pifer each scored a goal as the Patriots posted a 5-0 shutout win over Hedgesville.
Washington goalkeeper, Kylie Nelson, had five saves in the win. The victory kept Washington’s win streak alive.
