Milliron wins at featured Knight Night Relays in Kingwood
HEDGESVILLE — With Andrew Milliron, Rhett Zillinger and Jackson Jacobs finishing 1, 3 and 4, Jefferson won the five-school Musselman cross country meet held Aug. 28 at the Poor House Farm course.
Jefferson had a team score of 28 to surpass runner-up Musselman (42), Saint James (69), Martinsburg (90) and an incomplete Springs Mills team.
Jefferson’s Colin Hayes was 8th, Jonathon Royster 12th, Delmar Hagedorn 13th and Dylan Stamper 17th as Jefferson’s top seven runners.
Jefferson had finished second in the 39-team field at the Knight’s Night Relays in Kingwood. The Cougars registered a team time of 30:59.2 to finish second behind only University (30:46.8). Jefferson had three other full teams compete in the meet. Washington had one incomplete team in the event.
The Cougars’ Andrew Milliron recorded the meet’s best 1.5-mile split time with his 7:16.4. Milliron finished ahead of University’s Andy Paladino (7:30.9). Jacobs was 4th and Zillinger was 6th in the meet which had 182 runners.
Abby Colbert won the five-school Musselman Invitational with her time of 22:20 with the Lady Cougars’ Emma Lindberg (22:58) finishing second and Molly Briggs third (23:52).
Jefferson’s winning team score was 23, while Musselman (32), Martinsburg (75) and Hedgesville (108) were next. Spring Mills competed but didn’t have a full team.
At the Knight’s Night Relays in Kingwood, Jefferson was 7th behind winning University, two full Morgantown teams, Hampshire, Preston and Parkersburg.
Washington had three runners but failed to have a complete team.
Colbert had the 6th-best 1.5-mile split time (9:01) with Millie Paladino (University) having the best time of 8:24.1.
