Irish road bowling: Try the sport that’s been winning fans in Ireland for more than 300 years when an Irish road bowling tournament comes to Shepherdstown Sept. 8.

“Legally Blonde,” the musical: Charles Town’s Old Opera House offers up the fun musical comedy that was a hit on Broadway. Based on Amanda Brown’s novel – and known for the 2001 film interpretation with Reese Witherspoon as Elle Woods, the sorority girl who heads off to Harvard Law hoping to win back her beau – debuts Sept. 5.

Arts fest: Dozens of the region’s top-notch artists bring their best to the Mountain Heritage Arts and Crafts Festival, held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 27, 28 and 29 at Sam Michaels Park on Job Corps Road in Shenandoah Junction. The festival also brings artist demonstrations, live bluegrass, food vendors, a kids’ activities tent, wine tasting and more.
