Jefferson County Schools’ 2013-14 calendar

Students in Jefferson County head back to class next week, with the 2013-14 school year set to conclude in early June.
West Virginia law requires students to have 180 instructional days each school year. A look at some of the highlights from the calendar approved by school board members in May:
Thursday, Classes begin
Sept. 2, No school. Labor Day holiday
Oct. 14, No school. Instructional Support Day
Nov. 11, No school. Veterans Day
Nov. 28 and 29, No school. Thanksgiving break
Dec. 23, Instructional Support Day starts winter break; No school until Jan. 6.
Jan. 10, First semester ends
Jan. 20, No school. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday
Feb. 17, No school. Instructional Support Day
April 14, Spring break begins. No school until April 22.
May 13, No school. Primary Election Day
May 26, No school. Memorial Day
June 2, Set to be last day of school year.
Depending on the number of snow days that must be made up, students may go to school through June 12.
