Conference: The West Virginia conference of branches of the NAACP will hold the 69th annual convention starting at 9 a.m. Friday in Martinsburg. The two-day event will be held at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church at 532 W. Martin St. Conference registration is $15. Sandwich sale: The Harpers Ferry-Bolivar Lions Club hosts a country ham sandwich/bake sale along with their monthly waste paper drive from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday at the corner of Elm and Washington streets in Bolivar. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Reserve will be providing free child fingerprinting . Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

 

Seminar: Kingdom Life Cathedral Teaching Ministry presents “Back to School Chat & Chew” starting at 9 a.m. Saturday. Children and parents are invited to discuss bullying, child safety, peer pressure, nutrition and more.

Welcome service: The Bolivar United Methodist Church will welcome Pastor John Unger II (left) and wife Cara to the church with a special service and potluck luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. The church will furnish the chicken, rolls and beverages. Bring a favorite dish to share.
