Charles Town Rotary President John Williams (left) was joined by Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation Executive Director Michael Whalton, Jefferson High School head baseball coach Mark Hash, Vicki Shean, of the Eastern Panhandle Free Clinic, Ann Smith, Danny Smith, Renee Smith, all of the J.B. Smith Memorial Golf Tournament, Jefferson Memorial Park Board member Peggy Turner and Washington High School assistant coach J.P. Jones on June 19 to make the contributions from this year's J.B. Memorial Golf Tournament, from which $27,700 was distributed. The May 24 event featured 168 golfers. The memorial golf tournament was started in 2000 to remember Jeffrey Brenton, who was killed in a car accident in 1998. The event has raised more than $375,000 form community charities since its inception.
