CHARLES TOWN — The Charles Town Farmers Market now accepts SNAP/EBT payments for market produce. SNAP is the acronym for the USDA’s Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program which are now provided via specialized debit cards through a system known as Electronic Benefit Transfer.
A wireless terminal at the Market Information tent will allow SNAP shoppers to use their EBT cards to buy vouchers good for any eligible products at the market. The market will reimburse vendors in cash for vouchers used at their stalls.
The Charles Town Farmers market operates in the 100 block of South Samuel Street in Charles Town from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays until late October.
