PHOENIX — Marshall pitcher Aaron Blair became the highest draft selection in the school’s baseball history history when he was chosen 36th overall in the annual Major League Baseball selection process held last week.
The junior right-handed pitcher was selected by Arizona in the so-called Competitive Balance Round A between the first and second rounds of the 40-round process that took three days to complete. In his three seasons at Marshall, the Spring Valley High grad fanned 200 in his 202 innings of work. His career ERA was 3.30. Blair had a 5-5 record with a 2.85 ERA this spring.
