CHARLES TOWN — A Harpers Ferry man died Friday after the car he was driving collided with a dump truck in Charles Town, according to the Charles Town Police Department.
[cleeng_content id="674842239" description="Read it now!" price="0.15" t="article"]Lester Pete Snider, 82, was pronounced dead at a medical facility in Fairfax, Va., police said.
The driver of the dump truck, identified as Wayne C. Barrow, 30, of Inwood, was not injured in the crash, according to police.
According to Sgt. Jim Knott of the Charles Town Police Department, Snider was passing the dump truck in the left lane at 11:14 a.m. and moved into the right lane too quickly, causing the rear of his vehicle to contact the front tire and bumper of the dump truck. Snider lost control of his vehicle and struck an embankment, flipping at least once.
Barrow was not cited in the incident, Knott said.
According to police, this is the second fatal accident within Charles Town in the past two months.[/cleeng_content]
