MORGANTOWN — West Virginia has signed another men’s basketball player to a binding letter of intent.
Jonathan Holton is a 6-foot-9 forward who played at Rhode Island two seasons ago and was at Palm Beach State Community College in Florida for the 2012-13 season.
Holton averaged 19 points and 18 rebounds a game this past season. At Rhode Island, he averaged 10 points and eight rebounds per game.
While at Rhode Island, Holton was dismissed from the team when he was arrested and charged with two counts of video voyeurism. He was alleged to have videotaped consensual sex with two students. The sex was consensual but the recording was not.
The videos were posted online, and it was only then that the two students filed in court. The case has not been finalized and the state of Rhode Island is now scheduled it to be disposed on May 29.
Holton was also found in possession of a laptop computer that had been reported stolen from a URI dorm room.
The NCAA has yet to clear Holton to be eligible for the 2013-14 season.
