Washington traveled to Baker to play East Hardy in a baseball doubleheader last Tuesday. The homestanding Cougars won the opener, 14-8, and then the Patriots got a split of the two games by winning the nightcap, 10-5.
Washington’s record was 10-13 after the doubleheader split with the Cougars while East Hardy was 17-10 overall.
The Patriots were stopped, 3-2, by Martinsburg in a make-up game played at P.O. Faulkner Park on May 1.
Bulldog right-hander Chris Longdo hurled a six-hitter and allowed only one earned run. Longdo had a 2-0 lead when Martinsburg plated runs in the third.
Washington scored single runs in the fourth and sixth innings. Drew Hetzel and Hunter Weaver had doubles off Longdo. The Patriots took a 10-14 record into their final regular season game against Hedgesville.
Hedgesville trimmed the Patriots, 7-6, in the last game before the Sectional tournament.
Washington’s final record was 10-15.
