CHARLES TOWN — Studio M Salon & Spa has gone boutique.

Missy Grove is currently offering fashions from the West Coast and Florida at her newly rechristened Studio M Salon & Boutique shop in Charles Town.

Missy Grove is currently offering fashions from the West Coast and Florida at her newly rechristened Studio M Salon & Boutique shop in Charles Town.

In April, owner Missy Grove unveiled a lineup of fun and free-spirited fashions and accessories not found in the area’s chain stores and rechristened the spa Studio M Salon & Boutique during its annual Pink Carpet Affair event.

All merchandise is hand-selected by owner Grove, who regularly makes buying trips to New York so her merchandise is on trend, but still at a price that’s affordable.

Grove said once an item is sold out, it’s generally not replaced as she’s constantly acquiring new fashions and accessories to keep the merchandise fresh, and her customers coming back for more.

Currently, Grove is buying from vendors from the West Coast and Florida. The clothing is colorful, artful, and flying off the racks. From long dresses to macramé shorts, headscarves to necklaces, billowy shirts to wide-flared pants, patrons will be surprised by the unconventional flair the various pieces present.

“The boutique has gotten rave reviews. People are excited about the offering and thanking me for bringing style back to Charles Town,” Grove said with a laugh.

She’s not surprised. She said for years she’s been asked to add a boutique to pep up the area’s fashion offerings.

It’s been an overnight success. Since launching, the boutique has enjoyed a steady flow of customers.

“Lots of people have stopped in but it also gives patrons of the salon something to do when they come in for a hair or spa service,” she said.

Grove said she plans to add jeans, perhaps shoes and “definitely more accessories!” She also has an online store in the works, although the boutique is currently open Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Although her clothing is probably best suited for women 18 to 45, she encourages all women to stop by for a visit and see what’s in the store. She stressed she’s mindful of price points, and she strives for a mid-level retail cost so there is something for everyone.

“I’m in love with it,” said Grove. “Even though I’ve worked in buying offices, I’ve never been independent before. I’m learning as I go, but I’m so glad I took this next step. Having the salon, spa and boutique all under one roof is a dream come true!”
