SHEPHERDSTOWN — Police say they are looking for a suspect accused of firing a handgun in an upstairs apartment in downtown Shepherdstown Sunday.
[cleeng_content id="274677879" description="Read it now!" price="0.15" t="article"]According to police, a man entered an apartment above Domestic restaurant in the 100 block of East German Street at 1:03 p.m. and encountered a resident living there. The suspect said he was looking for another resident of the building and produced a handgun.
Police say the resident retreated to his room and the suspect fired a shot that went through the floor and into the restaurant below. The bullet lodged into a wall near a table of patrons. The suspect then fled the area.
The man is described as a heavyset white male between the ages of 20 and 25 and is believed to be from the Hedgesville area. Police say he was seen driving a light turquoise Saturn two-door passenger car. According to the Jefferson County Tax Assessor’s office, the property is owned by Mill-Run Partnership of Shepherdstown.
