Lady Rams seeded sixth in WVIAC tourney

VIENNA — Shepherd split its final softball doubleheader of the regular season, defeating homestanding Seton Hill, 13-12, before losing, 12-3, to the Griffins in the nightcap. Just prior to those games, the Lady Rams split a twinbill with Davis & Elkins. Shepherd lost the first game to the Senators, 2-1, but rebounded to win the nightcap, 14-3.
Shepherd completed the regular season with a 22-26 overall record and 13-11 record in the WVIAC.
A sixth-place finish in the WVIAC standings qualified Shepherd for the WVIAC tournament, a double-elimination event to take place in Vienna from May 2-4. Eight teams qualified for the tournament.
Shepherd faces third-seeded Charleston in the opening round. Charleston swept a doubleheader against the Lady Rams in the regular season.
The order of finish in the regular season saw Fairmont take first place. Finishing second was West Virginia State and Charleston was third. West Virginia Wesleyan was fourth with Glenville fifth, Shepherd sixth, Alderson-Broaddus seventh and Wheeling Jesuit eighth.
