BRIDGEPORT — With four wins and no losses in the Bridgeport Jayvee Baseball Tournament, the Jefferson jayvees closed out their season with a 20-8 overall record and won the event’s championship.
Jefferson opened the tournament with a 14-2 win over Riverside and then edged host Bridgeport, 3-2, in its second game last Friday.
On Saturday, the Cougars stopped Wheeling Park, 14-6, to remain unbeaten after three games.
Facing Bridgeport again, the Cougars won the event with a 6-1 win over the Indians.
This was the first time Jefferson had ever participated in the jayvee tournament, but will be returning in 2014 to defend its title.
