CHARLES TOWN – In a unanimous vote Thursday, the Jefferson County Commission agreed to send an official letter to the Public Service Commission requesting that they open a general investigation into the billing practices of Potomac Edison and its parent company FirstEnergy.
Del. Stephen Skinner, who has also written a letter calling for a general investigation, appeared before the Commission to request their support.
Each commissioner expressed strong support for an investigation, saying that they, like Skinner, had received numerous complaints in recent months.
Potomac Edison has said it will make interest-free payment plans available to individuals who received outsized bills after several months of bills based on estimated readings caused dramatic spikes in their monthly payments.
The PSC has not yet launched a general investigation, but a spokesperson said they are continuing to investigate individual complaints.
