There’s still time to see “A New Way to Experience the Book: Recycle, Reuse, Repurpose” at Charles Town Library.
After visiting artist Elizabeth Goins challenged Robert Linde’s fifth-period art class at Charles Town Middle School to reinvent the book as we know it, 13 students’ handcrafted books are on display at the library at 200 E. Washington St.
Goins has a master’s degree in art education K-12 and taught in schools in Montgomery County, Md., for eight years.
“It made sense for me to make books,” said Goins, who loves books and has been making them ever since she took a workshop in college. “I love the entire process of bookmaking—constructing, finding the words, and decorating the page.”
