A worthy Earth Day haul at River Riders

More than 80 people took part in River Riders’ annual Earth Day river cleanup last weekend. This year’s guests included an area Girl Scout Troop and young people from Jack and Jill of America. Volunteers collected four large bags of garbage and various large objects including children’s toys, road cones and more as part of the 81/2-mile cleanup project, which runs the length of the Shenandoah River from Millville Dam to Potomac Wayside. River Riders has sponsored the effort for each of the last 10 years.
