Washington dropped a 4-3 boys tennis match to host Martinsburg when the Bulldogs won two of the three doubles matches. The Patriots and Bulldogs split the four singles matches.
Martinsburg’s Grant Davis blanked Will Wheatley, 8-0, at No. 1 singles and The Bulldogs’ Carter Davis had an 8-0 win over Cullen Irving at No. 2. The Patriots got an 8-3 win from Austin Thomas when he beat Owen Hamilton at No. 3. Washington’s Tommy Wheatley tripped Inigo Goiriena, 8-2, at No. 4 singles.
Grant Davis/Carter Davis posted an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles over Will Wheatley/Thomas. Martinsburg’s Hamilton/Goiriena beat Washington’s Irving/Tommy Wheatley, 8-6, at No. 2. The No. 3 doubles match was won by Washington’s Becker Junkin/Trenton Littleton, 8-5, over Ben Frye/Andy Calo.
The Patriots traveled to Morgantown last weekend where they suffered losses to George Washington (7-0) and the host Mohigans (4-3).
In the close loss to Morgantown, Washington’s singles winners were Will Wheatley, Austin Thomas and Tommy Wheatley.
