MIDDLETOWN, Md. — Jefferson returned to track and field competition at the Don Boyer Invitational at Middletown High in Frederick County.
With Dante’ Price getting sprint victories in both the 100 (10.75) and 200 (22.02) and then running the anchor leg on the winning 4×100 relay team and then distance man Ryan Graf taking first in the 3200 (9:43.39) and second in the 1600 (4:32.40) Jefferson won the meet with its 85.5 points to runner-up Urbana’s 57.5 points.
Martinez Grant gave the Cougars a win in the long jump with his 21-foot-5-inch effort.
Price teamed with Tanner Cantrell, Robert Douglas, and Lawrence Morris to win the 4×100 in 43.71.
Warren Gray was second in the 110 hurdles (15.01) with Grant finishing fourth in the high jump and Leon Waldron sixth in the 400 and Cornell Holt sixth in discus.
The Cougars placed second in the 4×400 relay with Waldron, Price, Gray, and Jimmy Ross.
Jefferson was 12th in the girls division of the Boyer Meet won by Oakdale High.
Almost all of Jefferson’s points came in the relays where it was fourth in the 4×200, fifth in both the 4×100 and 4×800, and sixth in the 4×400. Abby Colbert finished fifth in the 3200.
