SHEPHERDSTOWN — Shepherd got its first two conference wins of the softball season when it stopped visiting Ohio Valley, 10-1 and 8-0, in a doubleheader. The Lady Rams were 11-17 overall and 2-2 in the WVIAC. Ohio Valley was 10-10 overall and 3-3 in the conference.
Both games were shortened by the mercy rule.
Shannon Lyons was the winner in the opener and evened her record at 5-5. Tiffany Biggs authored the second-game shutout and was 6-10 overall.
Kass Taylor and Carly Schmidt each had three hits for Shepherd in the opener. Shanan Plunkett, Taylor and Schmidt each had two hits in the nightcap.
Shepherd swept West Liberty in the Northern Panhandle on Saturday and then took another doubleheader on Sunday, sweeping homestanding Wheeling Jesuit.
The scores against West Liberty were 9-7 and 7-5 and the winning scores versus the Cardinals were 2-1 in eight innings and 10-3. Shepherd is 15-17 overall and 6-2 in the WVIAC.
