Martinsburg swept the four singles matches in defeating the Jefferson boys tennis team, 5-2. The Bulldogs’ No. 1 player, Grant Davis, stopped the Cougars’ Devin Forman, 8-0, and then No. 2 player, Carter Davis, recorded an 8-0 win over Isaac Washington. Owen Hamilton and Inigo Goiriena had Martinsburg’s other singles wins.
Jefferson’s two team points came when Washington/Caleb Lochnor won their doubles match and Drew Polczynski/Noah French teamed to win their doubles match.
Later last week, Jefferson posted a 7-0 win over Hampshire. Forman, Washington, Kaleb Lochnor and Christian Shimer had the four singles wins for the Cougars. It was Forman/Washington, Lochner/Polczynski and French/Kasey Myers that had the doubles wins.
