Meeting: West Virginia’s Promise-The Alliance For Youth meeting will start at noon today at the Anvil Restaurant in Harpers Ferry.


Photography workshop offered: Martinsburg photographer Rip Smith is offering a photography workshop titled “The Why and How of the Photographic Project” starting Thursday for photographers looking to improve their skills. For details, go to or call 304-596-0873.


Church fundraiser: St. John Lutheran Church in Harpers Ferry will host a bake/yard/soup/sandwich sale starting at 9 a.m. Friday. Homemade Easter candy will be available for purchase at 3 p.m.


History talk: Researcher and historian Donald E. Watts will discuss his latest book, “Fourth Census of the United States of America, 1820: Occupations and Manufactures in Jefferson County, Virginia,” from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Charles Town Library.


Children’s movie night: An Easter movie for children will be shown at 6 p.m. Saturday at Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town. Parents are required to stay and children are encouraged to bring a blanket and pillow. The event is free and snacks will be provided. Call 304-725-5513 or visit for more information.


Easter breakfast: Canterbury Center in Shepherdstown will host a breakfast followed by an Easter egg hunt starting at 8 p.m. Saturday. The Easter Bunny will make a special appearance. For questions, call 304-876-9422.


Fingerprinting for children: The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Reserve will be conducting a children’s fingerprinting service from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Charles Town Walmart. Children of all ages can be fingerprinted and fingerprint cards will be given to parents or guardians to keep at home. This is a free service.


Women’s conference: House of Prayer Church of God in Charles Town will hold a series of workshops for women from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday. RSVP by calling 304-728-0593 or 304-728-8471.


Easter egg hunt: The Potomac Valley Audubon Society will hold its fifth-annual Spring Children’s Egg Hunt from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Yankauer Nature Preserve north of Shepherdstown. The event is for children ages 3 to 6. Pre-registration is required. The fee is $5 per child. Registration is available at
