Shepherd softball splits tourney games

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Shepherd pitcher Tiffany Biggs fired a no-hitter at Glenville in a non-conference softball game played in the NCSI Sports Invitational being staged this week. Biggs’ gem was the highlight of Shepherd’s 8-0 win over the Lady Pioneers.

Biggs fanned 12 and walked four in moving her record to 3-5.

The Lady Rams got a three-run homer from Carly Schmidt and a solo shot from Alysha Voytell. Tayler Schaefer, Savannah Snyder, and Jess Mason all had two hits for Shepherd.

In a second game played on Monday, Tusculum posted an 8-0 shutout win over the Lady Rams in a game abbreviated to six innings by the mercy rule.

Shepherd was 4-8 overall after dividing Monday’s games.
