Hali Taylor, the director of the Shepherdstown Public Library, accepts a check for $500 from Shepherdstown Rotary Club President Monica Lockett (center) and the club’s Vocational Service Committee Chairman Peter Smith. The money will go toward buying a new set of children’s books on nations around the world. The club presented the check March 5 at its weekly breakfast meeting at the Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown. Smith noted that promoting children’s reading has always been a priority for the club. Taylor called the new books “beautifully illustrated and full of facts and interesting descriptions of the people, geography and history of each country.”
