Millersville sweeps Rams

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. — On Sunday, Millersville swept a baseball doubleheader from Shepherd, winning the opener, 13-5, and taking the nightcap, 5-3.

Shepherd’s first-game starting pitcher, Davis Hall, was no mystery to the Marauders, who had an 11-4 lead after only three innings. Hall retired only two batters before leaving after permitting five hits and three walks.

Chad Murphy and Brandon Coffey each had two of Shepherd’s eight hits.

In the nightcap, Millersville led, 5-1, after three innings against Shepherd starter Ryan Pansch.

Tad Barton, who worked six innings, improved his record to 4-1 and Adam Zipko got a one-inning save, his fourth of the season as the Marauders improved to 9-3 overall.

Jake Cook and T.J. Weisenburg each had two hits for Shepherd as Weisenburg improved his batting average to .111.

Shepherd was 2-8 with consecutive doubleheaders against Lock Haven scheduled for 1 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday at Fairfax Field.
